But such a project would be separate from recompiling WoW to run native on the M1 on macOS. Comment by rincewiz42 on T15:08:44-06:00No offense but you're talking about things you've heard.I have a dev kit literally right next to me.While I can respect that if you have a dev kit next to you that you have some experience with development, I can reasonably say that in my own lifetime of development experience (which has includes the Mac 68K to PPC and PPC to x86 transitions, as well as app development on iPhone and iPad) that it simply isn't as simple as you declare it to be (i.e."WoW on iPad confirmed!").What Blizzard has done here is precisely equivalent to when they shipped the first build of WoW for Mac/x86 and really nothing more. Converting some of the spells to gestures might work but the idea of simultaneous movement and casting would be really difficult to implement on an iPad without a mouse and keyboard. The game is entirely mouse + keyboard driven. Most current Mac apps, where developers are using Apple’s Xcode development tools, don’t require much work at all (little to no source code changes) to build for the new M1 chips.I agree with most of what you wrote except that I would expect that blizzard was using C/C++ for most of the core game logic and only writing platform specific logic as required.The difficultly in getting WoW to the iPad is less about the OS layer (although there will be some of that) and more about the redesign of the game to allow touch inputs.
